Live Mocap Performance , 10mins, 09.2023

In the era of rapid development of digitization and virtualization, my real-time motion capture performance attempts to explore the combination of traditional stage performance with emerging technologies. The project realizes the artistic effect of actors fluidly transforming image and space in virtual space through motion capture, real-time rendering and network communication technologies. Actors perform in a small space in real time by propagating motion capture data. Compared with traditional stage performances, this new form greatly shortens the conversion time and provides actors with more space to play.

The theme of the performance criticizes the commercialization tendency and content homogenization in the current live broadcasting environment. Various live broadcast platforms in the absence of content screening, the audience is easy to produce numbness and dependence. In order to cater to popular tastes, live-streaming content is often reduced to vulgar and low-grade consumer content. These reproducible fast-food works also lead to the audience's aesthetic fatigue.

This project attempts to awaken public reflection on live content through the power of art. The performance blends reality and fiction, demonstrates the possibilities that technology brings to art creation, and conveys a reflection on the Internet era. In the future, I will continue to explore more forms of audience participation, so that technology and humanity can collide to create imaginative new experiences.
